Mahindra will re-open bookings of its hugely popular XUV500 SUV. This will be the second-phase of bookings which will last for only ten days starting January 25, 2012. The company had shut bookings on October 11, after receiving over 8,000 orders over the span of just 10 days.

Bookings for the XUV500  will now extend to 19 cities in India, which includes Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore, Pune, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh / Panchkula, Ludhiana, Jallandhar, Patiala, Kochi, Trivandrum, Calicut, Trissur, Coimbatore, Nagpur and Nasik.

With the demand for the new SUV being very high, M&M has decided to conduct an XUV500 draw, if the number of bookings exceed 7200, which will ensure a reasonable waiting period for its customers.

The draw process will be conducted by professional services firm, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu India Pvt. Ltd (DTTIPL) as per mutually agreed scope & terms between M&M and DTTIPL. Application for the XUV500 draw will be available for Rs 80,000, from January 25 to February 3, 2012 and the draw results will be announced on February 15, 2012.

Speaking on the re-opening of bookings, Vivek Nayer, Sr Vice President - Marketing, M&M said, “It is a delight for us at Mahindra to re-open the bookings for the much acclaimed XUV500 and also extend the launch to 19 cities. To ensure that our customers do not have to wait beyond a reasonable period, we are undertaking an XUV500 draw, which will ensure fair and transparent allotment of the vehicle to our customers who get selected in the draw.”

Mahindra had recently announced a price hike for the XUV500 and the base variant W6 will get dearer by Rs 30,000, the W8 2WD by Rs 50,000 and the top-end W8 4WD variant will be costlier by Rs 55,000.
